It is not often that I get surprised by a beauty product, and being by and large a Beauty industry sceptic after years of seeing the same crap with different packaging I am always really glad when I get proved wrong; and I when I am? I’m not proud, I’ll happily share.
Karen Cummings-Palmer, who I look on as my personal goddess of all things beauty and health, brought QMS products to my attention, what she doesn’t know about health and beauty isn’t worth knowing. Now facials aren’t my thing, I’ve had too many disasters so, though I’m happy to go just about anywhere for a wax or pedicure (manicures are another thing I stay away from, but that’s another story) I break out in hives at the thought of someone touching my face. So I entered the gleam of QMS’ London headquarters feeling apprehensive and rather grumpy, to be honest. Tucked in a street off the King’s Road the spa is everything you would expect from an establishment at the higher end of the Beauty market, clean, quiet, bright, white, lots and lots of white. Usual salutations, New Client questionnaire, offer of drinks, 20 minutes later, I am lying down while my facialist slathers the first of a series of lotions and masks on my face. This is the part I usually dread but I liked Rowen (Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone, I still want to be able to book an appointment with her without a four-month wait!) She’s honest, straightforward and doesn’t call a sow’s ear a silk purse; she’s worked at QMS for a number of years and is a walking testament of the efficiency of the QMS products.
Having been around since 1986, QMS is by no means a ‘new’ brand. It was launched by Dr. Erich Schulte from his interest into researching wound healing while working in the field of trauma surgery in his home country of Germany. Schulte turned to science to find a way of re-introducing collagen into the skin to improve its elasticity and appearance. The products that have really impressed me are what they, at QMS, call, the Classic Set, this comprises of Exfoliant Fluid, Night Collagen and Day Collagen; these products changed the appearance of the skin on my face; it’s clearer, more refined, my pores seem smaller, it heals quicker from that occasional blemish and, as all three can be on the skin around the eyes, they’ve tackled dark circles too. I am (in the words of my son) well impressed! After years of using the same product I might actually be moving on…Queue violins.
